Weight Management Update

Dear DermCARE Weight Loss Patients,

 

We began offering GLP-1 weight loss medications in March 2024 and are proud of the positive results we have achieved with our patients. Due to a shortage of name-brand medications, specifically Zepbound (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide), we collaborated with compounding pharmacies to meet the demand for these options and offer them affordably.

 

However, the FDA has removed these medications from the shortage list, and access to the compounded versions has become interrupted. As a result, we will no longer be able to prescribe them through compounding pharmacies.

The good news is that we can prescribe directly through the manufacturers, Lilly for tirzepatide and Novo Nordisk for semaglutide. ​Prescriptions processed directly through Lilly and Novo Nordisk are eligible for the manufacturer self-pay savings programs, which we will assist you in navigating.

 

Sample pricing as of the date of this notice:

• Zepbound / Tirzepitide via Lilly Direct for one month:

  • 2.5 mg $349 / 5.0 mg $499 /

  • 7.5 mg $499 / 10 mg $499 / 12.5 mg $499 with a discounted Lilly Direct subscription for every 6 weeks.

• Wegovy / Semaglutide via pharmacy for one month:

  • All doses are $499 for a month’s supply.

 

Unfortunately, we do not control the pricing or availability of these medications. During your next visit, we will discuss the best option for your situation, as every patient is different. We are working to ensure you do not have a break in access to your medication.
